REBECCA OTTO ELECTED STATE AUDITOR IN MINNESOTA

Washington, DC – Twenty-First Century Democrats, the 13th largest political action committee in the nation, would like to congratulate Rebecca Otto and her campaign for their win in Minnesota’s State Auditor race. Otto was only one of 34 candidates endorsed by Twenty-First Century Democrats throughout the 2006 election cycle.

“The election of Rebecca Otto is a step forward for the citizens of Minnesota,” said Kelly C. Young, president of Twenty-First Century Democrats. “We are confident that Rebecca will be successful in achieving results with her progressive ideas and hard work. Rebecca’s courage, drive, and passion will guarantee a positive change in the state of Minnesota.”

Otto’s campaign against incumbent Republican Patricia Anderson focused on returning the position back its nonpartisan tradition. Many claimed that the position had become too partisan under Anderson, while Otto’s track record of bipartisanship from her years as a legislator made her better suited for the job. As Minnesota’s first Democratic State Auditor, Otto plans to balance financial responsibility while also fostering social programs that are beneficial to the communities of Minnesota. Furthermore, she will work hard to ensure that schools are no longer hindered by insufficient funding or the unequal distribution of money, in order to guarantee that every child receives a quality education.

The endorsement of such a small number of candidates nationwide signals a new direction for Twenty-First Century Democrats. “We seek out and support true visionary, authentic candidates,” said Young. “In order to move our country forward, we need to elect bold leaders with innovative ideas, who will stand up for their beliefs. Americans want leaders like Rebecca Otto, who are pragmatic and have a record of achieving their vision while in office. ”
