An Alternative Platform
The past two election cycles have proven that watering down the Democratic Party’s progressive values does not win us elections. With Democrats poised to win big in 2008, we believe we have an unique opportunity to embrace our traditional Democratic ideals. We believe too that as one of America’s most established and powerful Democratic organizations, it is our responsibility to ensure the Party’s platform represents the views of the Party’s constituents, the average American family and individuals like you.
Therefore, in an effort to seize the golden opportunity presented to Democrats this Election Year, we have, with the support from our friends in the progressive movement, created a Democratic Platform which we believe should be fully adopted by the national Democratic Party and serve as the foundation for our convention in Denver this August.
Please read the 21st Century Democrat’s Alternative Democratic Platform and sign our petition addressed to the members of the Democratic Convention’s Platform Committee. We will deliver your petition along with thousands of others in advance of Platform Committee’s meeting this August.

With your support, we can insist that the 2008 Democratic Platform includes:
- A foreign policy that uses military force only as a last resort;
- Economic policy reforms to boost the economy and bring urgently needed relief to working families;
- A plan for affordable and accessible healthcare coverage for every American;
- Insistence on fair taxes and corporate accountability;
- Support for creating a quality public education for all children;
- A strategy to create good paying jobs, living wages, and secure pensions;
- Endorsement of the strongest protections for civil and human rights; and
- A demand for clean and sustainable environmental policies.
