Bill will face off against Hastert's hand-picked successor, Jim Oberweis, in a March 8th Special Election to decide who will represent Illinois' 14th Congressional District for the remainder of the term. Oberweis is a multi-millionaire who has already tried to buy his way into office three times. He is committed to continuing the destructive policies of George W. Bush, Dennis Hastert and their congressional Republican allies - but we're going to do everything we can to ensure he doesn't get that chance.

21st Century Democrats is committed to electing strong and principled leaders who are focused on serving the needs of their community. In Florida's 8th Congressional District, we are supporting Mike Smith because he understands the challenges facing central Florida and has the skills and determination to build a better future for the district, the state and our country.We endorsed Mike because we know he will work hard to serve the needs of Florida’s working families. We were impressed by his commitment to increasing the minimum wage, making health care more affordable and accessible, and ensuring that the federal government meets its responsibility to help fund our children’s education. We also think that Mike, with his background as a prosecutor, is the best candidate to address the unacceptable amount of violent crime in Orlando and throughout Florida. He is a genuine person who cares about what is happening to people in central Florida and is clearly working hard every day to win.
Mike is the strongest candidate in the Democratic field and has the best chance to unseat Bush supporter Ric Keller. Democrat Charlie Stuart was unable to take advantage of the strong Democratic wave in 2006. UNH Poll: Shaheen With A Big Lead Over Sununu
A recent University of New Hampshire poll showed former Governor Jeanne Shaheen with a 17 point lead over incumbent Republican John Sununu in the race for U.S. Senate. Seven percent of respondents were undecided.

Dan Seals Wins in Illinois
On February 5th, 21st Century Democrats’ endorsed candidate Dan Seals defeated Jay Footlik in Illinois’ 10th Congressional District Democratic primary. Dan received over 80% of the vote, and demonstrated why he is the best candidate to take on Congressman Mark Kirk in November. 21st Century Democrats was thrilled to be able to contribute to Dan’s win by putting an experienced field organizer in the 10th district for over a month leading up to the primary.
This election will be Dan’s second shot at knocking off Mark Kirk, after nearly unseating the Bush yes-man in 2006. This year, Seals is back with better funding, more supporters and an impressive list of endorsements. 21st Century Democrats is excited about Dan’s primary victory and we look forward to helping him win again in November.

Snow Day in Illinois' 10th
Today's update from the Dan Seals for Congress campaign was going to include pictures from the field, with me valiantly leading a crew of phone bank volunteers or clipboard-toting canvassers. Unfortunately, today's snapshot reflects the reality of running a Chicago campaign in February: eight inches of snow and more on the way!Fortunately, there is no such thing as a "snow day" on Super Tuesday, and we're moving forward with our Get Out The Vote plans for February 5th. Over the past few days my focus has been to prepare the staging sites for our phone banks and canvassing operations. We’re constantly recruiting volunteers for our GOTV efforts and we have been working long hours to get our headquarters ready for the big day. The weather has not cooperated with our canvassers, but their effort and enthusiasm has been phenomenal. However, I might suggest that we go back to doing this primary thing in the spring.
